Paul's Biography

A creative freelance Avid and linear tape editor with over 7 yrs experience. Editing high quality features, corporate & sport promos and many other items for broadcast. Able to interpret direction with speed and enthusiasm.

Although my past experience has been within the Corporate, News and Sports field, I am very keen to move into other areas of programming, particularly Lifestyle, Reality and Documentary television. With a solid technical background I also believe I can bring more to any editing facility.

Having sole responsibility for the output of six edit suites, I ensured that all taped parts of the rolling bulletins were available to tight deadlines.
Stories covered included:

1990 Nelson Mandela's release from prison in South Africa
1992 General Election (following the campaigns around the UK)
1994 Commonwealth Games, Victoria, Canada
1996 Olympic Games, Atlanta

With a technical background, I also acted as a trouble-shooter for technical problems within the department whilst supervising my shift and organizing staff rosters.

For a period of six months I was technical manager of Sky News' political office at Millbank. Duties included ensuring the smooth running of the studios; edit suites, lighting, racks, sound mixing and front line maintenance. The technical organization of inserts from Downing Street and other London injects was also my responsibility.

Working at the Newman Street studios: off-lining Reuters' corporate videos. In addition to stories for foreign clients - both news and features.
Studio disciplines included lighting, camerawork, sound and vision mixing in the 3-camera studio.
MCR operations included booking and co-ordination of national / international feeds.

At the invitation of NBC America, I worked on location as a VT operator during the 1988 Olympics in Seoul, South Korea.
