Nick's Biography

Nick has been working in broadcasting for more than 19 years. After graduating from Cambridge University with a BA in Economics, he began as a researcher for Anglia TV, joined the BBC as a Regional News Trainee and then spent the remainder of the nineties as a BBC TV and Radio reporter. Happy to be infront of the camera - one of his pieces-to-camera was made from a hotair balloon 1000 feet over Northamptonshire - he also became increasingly interested in production.
In 1998 he went freelance, gradually building up his knowledge and skills of editing, camera work and audio recording. The steady rise in business crucially allowed him to learn how to work with clients, ensuring that he was telling their stories well, keeping them informed at all times of costs, timescales and production requirements.
Nick can offer production support (camera, script writing, voiceover, editing), or manage an entire project end-to-end, as well as helping people get the most out of television and radio interviews through his media training courses.
Nick is also an accomplished pianist - having released a CD of his compositions in 2003 - and writes most of the music that accompanies his production work.

AIU London Promotional Film - AG Studios , United Kingdom
2009 - Cameraperson/Editor
Arif Gardner from AG Studios asked me to help him produce a promotional film for The American Intercontinental University, London which has students from more than 70 countries. They are drawn to the university by its courses and it location right in the heart of London. An extensive brief to capture the hustle and bustle of London life together with interviews and setups with students resulted in a comprehensive 15 minute film that has pace and interest. Camera, script, editing, voiceover and music was done by myself.

Inspire Change - NH Communications Limited , United Kingdom
2008 - Producer/Director
Inspire Change - a training company that helps medical professionals - wanted to show the diversity of their work in a promotional film on their website as well as focusing on a programme called 'Home Strait.' The 'Home Strait' programme simulates a real life interview scenario for medical professionals looking to become consultants. I was asked to head up a promotional film using footage from these programmes together with interviews from panel members and former trainees who had become successful consultants. Camera, script, edit, voiceover and music was done by myself.

Shire Hotels Induction Film - NH Communications Limited , United Kingdom
2008 - Producer/Director
One of the aspects that Shire Hotels was told consistently by guests was that the standard of service was always excellent. I was brought in to help illustrate best practice by existing members of staff and interview them about their roles and their thoughts on the hotel which then formed the basis of a 15 minute induction film shown to all new members of staff within the company. Camera, script, edit, voiceover and music was done by myself.

The Stafford Hotel, London - NH Communications Limited , United Kingdom
2006 - Producer/Director
The Stafford Hotel in London's Mayfair were keen to highlight a new extension to the existing hotel that had been built incorporating a large number of luxury rooms. The aim was to produce a DVD which would be sent out with Christmas cards to customers across the world making them aware of the development. It was a joy to film with the crew in such a luxurious and yet understated environment, capturing the atmosphere of this exclusive hotel, interviewing the staff who are all characters in their own right and are as much members of a family as members of a professional team. Camera, script, edit, voiceover and music was done by myself.

Being A Witness - NH Communications Limited , United Kingdom
2005 - Producer/Director
Bedfordshire Criminal Justice Board approached me to help make a series of films at three courts across the county to explain and show what is involved when you are called upon to be a witness.
The three films were all packaged as part of an interactive DVD. Camera, script, edit and voiceover.
