Marc's Biography

Series Producer/Series Director with 12 years experience of documentary, factual, and features production. Normally this bit goes on about how fantastic the author is and how dynamic/creative/organised they are. I humbly suggest those qualities apply to me, but I don't think anyone reads CVs and thinks, "Marvelous! His ostentatious account of his own abilities means he's just the sort of big-headed chap we want working at Monkey Tennis Productions". So instead of waffling on about how great I am I'm going to use this space to describe what I'm looking for from you. Risky perhaps; but you'd expect an SP with my credits to be able to plan, manage, budget and write with flair; or I'd never get any work.

So, I am looking for a factual or documentary series that has the potential to tell a riveting and important story; with a production company that recognises and rewards hard-work and inspiration. I like to be fully involved in the entire production process, not just do my bit and then bugger off at half-five to Soho House. I enjoy shaping and crafting my projects, building dedicated teams, and creating outstanding television. I also wish to work on programmes that I believe make a positive difference to those who watch them and especially to those who have taken part. If you share those sentiments, then I'd love to hear from you.

"The X Factor 24/7" - Thames TV , United Kingdom
2005 - Series Producer
(Exec Producer: Claire Horton, Commissioner: Matthew Littleford)
10x60" series exposing the inner workings of The X Factor machine: countless `24/7' exclusives were front page news. Incredibly tight turnaround: just four days to produce a one hour reality show from scratch to broadcast with a team of nine. I created the show format and organised the entire system of production, while cutting engaging emotional narratives to show real character development. Had a team of two shooters following my hourly instructions to ensure narrative continuity. I commissioned a system of two Avid Adrenalins digitising at 2:1 - an assemble suite, and a finishing suite with final mix and grade taking place as we cut (eliminating the conform) so final `offline' play-out was the TX master.

The journey was surprising with some incredibly tender moments of kinship and revelation; all leading to the demise of our brief friendship as she falls in love with a bachelor I introduce her to. Self-shot on DV CAM. My doc chosen for TX1 of 3.

Dealing with everything from mass digitising, constant logging, assigning editors to assemble cuts, fine-cutting storylines, cutting to commercial music, and giving immediate feedback and instruction to the day directors. Involved many hand-over sessions to the series director requiring concise but thorough communication about all aspects of the system and show content.
