Joel's Biography

I'm a Factual Entertainment and Corporate Producer/ Director with 12 years of experience in broadcasting and 9 years at the BBC.

I self shoot (EX1 and Z1) and edit on FCP and Avid MC. I am also a certified BBC editing and self shooting trainer.

In 2010 I have set up my Production Company Higher POWA Productions which produces LGBT programming. Recent commissions include a weekly Jewish lesbian and gay radio show and the official Pride London 2010 film.

My CORPORATE CREDITS include BMW, Mini, Nestle, Glasgow's 2014 Commonwealth Games Bid Launch and BBC Internal Communications.

A second commission for my new production company. I recruited and led a team of 12 people to make the official Pride London 2010 film. We captured the event attended by over 1 million people with 4 camera crews filming the parade and interviews with public figures and celebrities.

Produced and directed two films about new BMW accessories which will be shown in BMW dealerships across the UK.

Self-shooting (EX1) and editing (FCP) a one hour documentary about a newlywed couple who had a multi million pound wedding.

Dance4Life Live Event - Dance4Life Charity , Unspecified

I directed, produced and presented a report from the Dance4Life London event whereby 55,000 young people in 19 countries were connected by satellite while performing a dance routine to promote Aids education. My role included interviewing celebrities and young participants in the charity event and editing the film for their website.

Presented and directed various internal communications films showcasing BBC Scotland's new £188 headquarters.
The films I presented were HD digi crew shot. I shot other films on Z1 and edited them on Avid Media Composer.

Glasgow Commonwealth Games Launch Film - BBC Scotland Arts & Factual , Scotland
2007 - Producer/Director
Directed and produced the film used to launch Glasgow's successful 2007 Commonwealth Games bid which featured World Champion athlete Chris Hoy. Managed a small production team which included two researchers, a production co-ordinator and a production manager.
