About Elmer

  • Share profile:
I am a freelance director / producer with experience in documentary, corporate and independent film. Recent Clients include Cunard for whom I have made three films in 2011 including a 15 minute 'Brand DVD called  'The Most Famous Ocean Liners In The World'. In October 2010 I directed a 10 day marketing shoot on board their latest ship, Queen Elizabeth. The footage from this shoot which you can see on the landing page at www.owlproductions.net. In terms of my own independently produced films, I directed an hour documentary on infant psychology as well as having (Nov 09) completed a major ''film a week, over a year'' project resulting in 45 short films. These films are also available to see at:  www.owlproductions.net.

My background includes broadcast lighting camera work for Clients includings: BBC National News and Current Affairs, Carlton Westcountry as well as many independent  companies for ITV, C4 etc. As a camera assistant on film I worked with great documentary cameramen on feature length drama, dramatic reconstruction, documentary as well as corporate productions.

I am able to create an engaging narrative adhering to commercial brand definitions that can also touch 'emotional notes' and work efficiently to bring in productions on budget.

Training of students for the BBC world Service trust has taken me to the Middle East.  I live in West London with my wife and 5 3/4 yr old son.

This has been a year-long project exploring the idea of a 'willingness to be free'. Each week I made a short film in the time I had available. Many of the films are entirely poetic in nature, on this perennial theme. The motivation was to discover what being 'free' in my own life meant and to get better at making short films. Have a look for yourself to see what you think... The films generally are about 5 mins in length and are available on the web at www.owlproductions.net.
