About Paul Vanezis

I am a self-shooting producer/director, series producer and edit producer with more than 20 years experience. I have worked across many genres, most recently in science, technology and specialist factual, series producing and directing both long and short form programming for BBC1, BBC2, BBC4, CNBC and ITV1 and content production for large events including 'The Doctor Who Celebration' for Single Market Events and BBC Worldwide.

I've recently completed edit directing duties on 'A Very British Space launch' for Channel 4 and previous to that, 'Charlotte Church's Dream Build' for Discovery. I have my own FS7 shooting kit which I have used to shoot 'The Secret Story of Stuff', 'Storm Troupers' and 'Countryfile Summer Diaries' amongst other things. As a former editor, I'm at home on location or in the cutting room. I have extensive edit producing experience cutting my own long form docs and series such as 'The Great Pottery Throw Down', 'Junior Bake-Off', and 'The Housing Enforcers'.

I base myself where the work is and have accommodation in both Birmingham and London. I've worked all over the world, from Plymouth, to the USA, South Korea and India. I'm used to producing content on tight budgets with short production schedules as well as more considered timescales. Although I'm a highly experienced self shooter, I've been directing crews since the mid 1990's, working in the UK, Italy, France, Jamaica, Ireland and the United States.

Working mainly in factual and specialist factual, I've been a producer/director and worked in senior production roles in the fields of science, fashion, cookery, gardening, art and rural affairs. My interest in science and archive material collided with 'Destination Titan' for BBC4, an historical science documentary with strong archive content.

I'm a keen photographer and I love the outdoors. I started my working life in the building industry and have a good knowledge of engineering and construction.

I'm used to taking ideas forward from initial treatment to fully completed series.

Storm Troupers is a BBC4 documentary that I produced and directed for Keo Films. It tells the story of how a small group of dedicated weather fanatics strove to find a way of accurately forecasting the weather.
