I am an experienced series producer/director, working across the board from documentary to daytime formats.Deliver on budget and on schedule. Referred to as having a "lightness of touch" -see Broadcast profile. I am currently SP on a series I conceived with Nell Butler ( who created Come Dine With Me) called The Great British Taste Tour. It's a hybrid of Come Dine and Coach Trip. Before that, I developed the format for Love Your Garden with Alan Titchmarsh and rolled that out to a series of 12. It did very well for ITV over the summer.
I have also worked over the years as an immersive journalist; prostitution, drugs and binge drinking - all evils covered! I think I make resonating TV which is honest and emotionally intelligent. I experience situations first hand and am not scared of putting myself on the line.Whilst I am confident on screen, I am first and foremost - a film maker. I love coming up with ideas and crafting them into formats that work - that's the challenge and the buzz for me!
Before 2002, I ran an Independent Company, TNTV, making strands for daytime. (Good Morning and This Morning.) I specialised in food, fashion and beauty. I won an RTS for best factual documentarty - History of Walled Gardens and my ITV episode of Home on Their Own was nominated for Emmy and won Montreaux Cup for Best Factual. My Coast episode too was put forward as the BAFTA nomination.
Over the years, I've consistently worked in the Factual and Features Dept of BBC London as one of their preferred Directors. I have worked for News and Current Affairs more recently but particularly like mixing the genres -covering serious issues in an accesible, entertaining way.
I work confidently with talent - however tricky ! ( I've worked with Delia Smith, Esther Ranzeen, Ainsley Herriot, Carole Vordeman, Carol Smillie and too many others to name!)
I also enjoyed directing prime time drama reconstruction for Mysteries, Crimewatch, Midweek Lottery and multi camera pilots and OB's for Granada and C4.
I look at my varied experience and wonder if employers see me as a "jack of all trades".?But every experience has bought new skills, a maturity and wisedom for what works. The variety has kept me on my toes, constantly adapting to new needs.
What else can I say?! I love to create a fun and relaxed working environment- crew and contributors genuinely like to work with me! I always bring huge enthusiasm and a grinding work ethic to a given project so -if you want to put your money on screen and value experience over price - get in touch!
