I am an experienced, highly creative, multi disciplined director and editor. I have worked at the cutting edge of the creative industry - where budgets were stretched, time was limited but still hitting deadlines and exceeding expectations. I strive for the best in what I do, always looking to improve myself in every way possible. Combined with all of this is a strong visual style, a total dedication to my craft, and a solid grounding in broadcast standards, formats and PSE requirements.
I am well versed in FCP, with excellent VFX skills and strong audio capabilities. However, it is in the fields of structure and narrative where I excel, a talent honed by years of practice, study, experience and application. I have successfully managed and produced projects from pitch to delivery. Examples of this are the films Glade and Dulwich Going Greener, in which I served as director, editor and producer. Low budget film making of this kind (where you are dealing with hundreds of hours of footage) requires the ability to understand and create efficient workflows and data management strategies. In addition, I have written screenplays, further honing my story telling skills.
The majority of my work features extensive visual effects, creative grading, animation, CGI and compositing. To this end I have become proficient with a number of tools such as Shake, After Effects, Motion and Color.
Further to this I have a broad understanding of technology used in all aspects of production. Indeed I endeavor to constantly research new technology for the purpose of improving what I can do as a film maker.
Finally, I am a voracious consumer of creative content across a wide selection of media. Having an extensive spectrum of tastes and an eclectic education in culture (both high and low) only serves to enhance my range as an artistic editor and film maker and inspires me to push beyond my previous achievements.
Equally at home working alone or part of a creative team, I believe I would be a strong addition to any production I am attached to.
BACKGROUND
I have 10 years of editing experience and have been working as a freelance editor for the past 6 years, via the production company Digital Sneakers.
During my tenure with Sneakers I served as director, producer and editor. Multi disciplined and with a wide skillset necessary for success when working with a new independent music video company, I also shot gigs and interview footage with artists such as Bloc Party and Razorlight. I also became heavily involved with researching emerging technologies (such as the RED ONE and tapeless workflow) and the development of new working practices to make the most of these upcoming developments.
Recently I worked for TVT, compliance editing content for BBC Worldwide. This helped develop my technical competencies whilst also providing a foundation in BBC standards and systems. (a major part of my job was liaising with BBC management regarding the direction and nature of the edits I was performing).
Prior to going freelance I was a senior equipment manager at Cruet, a broadcast facilities house. There I had experience in both production and post production, arranging shoots across the globe for clients such as the BBC, Universal Music and Lucasfilm.
