I have been a practising Director of Photography for the past 30 years with extensive experience in 16mm, 35mm, Beta SP, DigiBeta, HD, Red One build 21, Drama and Commercials.
I have a considerable amount of expertise in model animation & miniatures. I also have extensive experience in blue & green screen comp work.
My background was as a professional stills photographer. I then wanted to make images move, so instinctively I progressed to film. I started off as clapper loader, then progressed to camera assistant, focus puller, camera operator and finally lighting camera.

    30 sec 35mm commercial
we shot live action plates from a helicopter in South Africa, then came back to the UK and spent 9 weeks animating 12 inch pink bunnies on a 20 foot rock face green screen to make them look like they were climbing the real cliff face. Using a Milo motion control rig we were able to replicate every roll, yaw and focal distance from the data in the chopper and load that data into the moco. Matching the lighting was key to making the whole commercial work.

Angry Kid 'Who do I think I Am' - Aardman Animations Ltd , United Kingdom

Angry Kid directed by Darren Walsh is a stop frame animation technique where we use real people and pixilate them. Using a set of over 300 masks replaced over every two frames we create a character that is both disturbing and funny, now very famous the world over.
