I am a Producer/Director/Self-Shooter with over 15 years experience of making quality, critically-acclaimed documentaries for broadcast TV; mainly C4, BBC2 and Five. I make engaging, entertaining programmes with strong characters and compelling narrative.

I am very good at casting contributors, gaining and sustaining access, dealing with sensitive, difficult subjects, and identifying and following narrative. I am a very strong shooter with real visual flair and can work very flexibly to all sorts of briefs and budgets. I shoot on DV, full HD and Tapeless. I am very disciplined in the edit, and rapidly get to a good rough cut, while absorbing the requirements of the slot. Although ob docs are my primary genre, I also enjoy and am good at working to a format and producing narrative.

My programmes always get great ratings and glowing reviews!

"Liz Friend has brought us one of the best documentaries I've seen...fuelled by well-founded contempt and an agreeable sense of mischief" Victor Lewis-Smith on Hilton film for BBC2 series 'Can't Take It With You' on doomed legacies of cultural icons.
