So what do you want in a cameraman? Someone who can light? Light well? Be faced with any situation and be able to shoot it, record sound and pictures and be always looking to find a better shot for you or make it look better? An easy going, yet professional, friendly and creative person to shoot and work and travel with? Someone who works fast, is not going to get bad tempered or drop you in it? Someone who appreciates the work and the job, no matter how big or small, and  has commitment, good humour, and enthusiasm ? You just found him.

I do a variety of type of work, a selection of which is on my website, and I feel each genre has its own attraction and style.

Good camera work should apply no matter what the pressures of time and budget, and working under pressure, thinking on your feet, and being creative is something I bring as much to news as to the more glossy shoots.

I do politics and showbiz, corporate and hard news, entertainment, sport, music and documentary, and they all feed into each other.

* An owner / operator of full HD kit. I have a full, comprehensive HD camera kit. The Panasonic 3100 shoots in any HD format or speed, or SD (DVC Pro / 50/ 25 /DV) . It shoots not just at 50mbs, but also 100mbs which is twice the broadcast minimum, which gives you twice as much information / quality of picture to grade with, and gives a superior result to Sony cameras.
Call or email for full kit list, but basically, Sachtler 18 tripod, MSU 10 transfer unit to transfer P2 cards to a removeable drive at four times real time, Sony OLED 740 monitor,4 Dedo lights, A Kino Diva, (tungsten / daylight tubes), Lowell 55 Rifa light, Arri 650, Canon HD J14 wide (4.3mm) Lens and Canon HD J17 (7mm) standard lens, Lectrosonics Radio mic kit, ECM 77, Rode hand mic NTG 3 / softy. Kookikit Gobos.

Pelican cases and hard shells for transport, all travelling in a VW Passat Estate. Worldwide Insurance cover.

*About to learn Avid and Final Cut pro editing skills on Mac Book pro

* Negotiable rates: I'm negotiable with rates, depending on the shoot.

* Any environment and style, including hand-held - I love lighting, can work fast, but am just as happy to work with the camera on the shoulder.

* Good deals with hire companies and reliable crew: I can hire in any personnel such as Assistants or Sound too. These will be reliable people I can vouch for.

* 7- seater people carrier available: Hyundai Trajet / VW Passat Estate

* Diligent worker, relaxed attitude, nothing is impossible...
I've been based in London since 1994, but was born and educated in Scotland, I grew up in West Berlin, and after Stirling University was Film Trainee then Camera Assistant in the TV and Film industry in Glasgow in 1989. From a Runner to Trainee, through the Camera Assistant grades, to being Lighting Cameraman for the last 8 years, I've worked on everything from movies to news, and consider that variety as a healthy mix.
Whatever the job, it's always a team effort, and I will bring all that experience to your shoot, no matter how big or small. I can self-direct, or can patiently work with the freshest talent to get the results we need. Patience, flexibility and using my initiative all come as standard.

Skills

It might sound obvious, but I light and shoot, and do them anywhere, as best I can. I don't need lots of crew to help me, and am not a commercials princess who needs lots of help and everything laid on.

I work as fast as the time and circumstances allow. I'm up for a bit of mutual input, and will light or shoot your project as best I can, with a dash of humour, with as much creativity as I can muster..see showreel for evidence!
I'm expereienced shooting abroad, and as I write, am currently in Shanghai, China for a corporate shoot. Yhen travelling on to Vietnam and the Philippines.
